Swedish Massage
Foundational relaxation bodywork — long flowing strokes, full-body integration, calm pace. The session most people imagine when they think 'massage.'
What Swedish work is
Swedish is the foundational style most contemporary Western massage builds from. Long flowing strokes (effleurage), kneading (petrissage), rhythmic tapping (tapotement), and gentle stretching. The pace is calm and the pressure is moderate. The goal is integration and nervous-system downshift — not targeted symptom-fix work.
Who this is for
- People new to massage who want a baseline before going deeper next time
- Anyone whose body is tense from general stress rather than a specific injury or chronic pain
- People who simply need a calm hour off the grid
- Pairs well with new-guest Foundational Restoration Session bookings
What it isn’t
Swedish is not for chronic pain that needs targeted release work. If you have a specific complaint — a stuck shoulder, a back that won’t unlock, foot pain — you’ll be better served by Deep Tissue, Trigger Point, or Zoku Shin Do.
