Neuromuscular Therapy / Trigger Point

Precise pressure on the knot you can point to. For referred pain, hyperirritable spots, and complaints that wander.

What trigger point work is

Trigger points are hyperirritable spots inside muscle that refer pain elsewhere when pressed — the classic “knot in your shoulder that’s somehow giving you a headache.” Neuromuscular therapy (NMT) works these points directly with sustained, ischemic-compression pressure until they release.

It’s more surgical than broader bodywork. Less massage, more troubleshooting.

Who this is for

  • People with one specific complaint that’s been chased through other modalities without success
  • Headaches that come from the neck and shoulders rather than the head
  • Pain that “moves” — referred pain patterns
  • Athletes and lifters with overworked muscle groups creating ripple-effect tension

What to expect

The session is more dialogue than typical bodywork. I’ll ask where it hurts, where it refers to, what makes it worse. From there, the work is targeted to specific points. Pressure goes deep but is sustained rather than pumping — usually 30-90 seconds per point, breath-paced.

You may feel the referred pattern fire (the headache showing up when I press the trapezius, for example) — that’s diagnostic, and the release follows.
